  1. Scary reading John well written blog hope all drivers take note of your ten point check will publicise if your happy with that as like you I agree safety has to be a driver priority I’ll add one more
    Let’s be careful out there

  2. Any details on the red car John?

    Make, model etc.

Just so other PH working for Apps such as Uber, HailoExec or Wheely can keep vigilant.

If in doubt keep the doors locked.

Other than CCTV in the car i think for any car other than a lowish value one a Tracker of some description is a worthwhile investment.

  3. Excellent post John…

Having been on uber myself for over a year I’ve had a fair few of these incidents. None as scary and concerning as your’s tho.

My way of preventing this kind of incident is to totally avoid a potentially fraudulent hot spot or pick up area. If I am in doubt before I even reach pick up place i will call pax. If I get there voicemail straight away or a no answer after 2 or 3 attempts I will cancel. If they answer with boss man how long I’m canceling. If they sound young and fraudulent i will cancel.

Those are my criteries on the dodgy ones and I urge everyone who works as a PH driver to be extra carefull in estates.

    Stay safe

    1. Many thanks for letting all Cab4Now readers know.

Many senior people in the industry check in here regularly so I trust they’ll take the necessary steps to ensure the safety of their drivers.

  4. Age, sex and ETHNICITY fitted high risk profile? So if it was a WHITE guy you would’ve been okay with it? For once I beg to differ with you John.

Age and sex MAYBE but ANY ETHNICITY can car jack you. Any age, sex or ethnicity could be used as bait. But like you said we are self-employed and have to protect ourselves and our assets.

    Stay safe.

  5. Hi Kevin, thanks for your thoughts.

    Of course you are correct.

However, I would stand by some groups are higher risk.

In hindsight, I should not have bothered accepting the job in the first place. But I lowered my guard because it was quieter than usual.

Take care mate and have a great week.
